This course is a basic introductory course designed for those who want to learn more about the Art of Preaching. It is not just for those who are relatively new to preaching, but also suitable for those who have more experience but would value some refreshment and new ideas.
Preaching is an art, and therefore requires preparation, focus and commitment to understanding the scriptures. The Bible is a complex and beautiful collection of scriptures and it is a huge responsibility to rightly divide the word of God for our congregations.
This is a self-paced course which means that participants go through the course in their own time and at their own pace.
The course material requires 1-2 hours of individual study. You may like to go through the material in one go, or you may find that it's more helpful to stop and digest each part carefully.
The social side of a course is hugely important. Participants are encouraged to interact together primarily through the discussion forums which involve sharing thoughts and ideas by writing them down and 'posting' them in the forum. In order to get the most from this course you are expected to contribute and respond to forum posts. Just as in the same way you wouldn't ignore someone talking to you at a physical course, it's important you reply to posts on the forums.
This material may be used as preparation material for an online Art of Preaching Zoom workshop.
A face to face version is not currently running due to concerns around Covid-19, but if you would prefer to attend a face course later in the year then please contact Angela Hannafin (angela.hannafin@leeds.anglican.org) who will be happy to put you on the waiting list.
